In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.

I like Doug Jones and loathe Tommy Tuberville too, but I'm hoping Alabama doesn't turn into one of those unwinnable money sinks for liberal donors who'd do more good spending elsewhere (NC, Georgia, NM, Maine, maybe Ohio, etc.).

This kind of investigation (and a few wonderful columnists) is why I won't let go of my Times subscription and why I don't believe newsletters can replace legacy media—and I'm not sure they're even alternative. They're a supplement. Nothing can replace a well-funded newsroom.
I’m very glad The New York Times commissioned this research by Harvard. It’s the first look at how the Medicaid will hammer urban community hospitals. The Harvard research itself says 109 hospitals are most at risk, but I don’t see a link to the list? hsph.harvard.edu/health-quali...

I'm skeptical that Trump's make Ukraine surrender plan wasn't real.
Trump envoy Witkoff negotiated it, details and threats to Ukraine were public for multiple days, and Rubio didn't dispute it then, only after the plan got a bad reception and rejected by Europe.
Look like attempting to save face.

Republican Senator Mike Rounds said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a call to senators, confirmed the so-called 28-point “peace plan” was actually a Russian wishlist and is “not the administration’s position”. Nor is there any threat to cut off weapons or intelligence to Ukraine.
