I'm only on here so I could submit my comedy slop to satire websites for validation from internet strangers. Are we still doing pronouns in work Zoom? Zhey/ZAM! Oh god, I need a job before I lose my house.

We are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done: A superpower is committing suicide because the GOP Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King.

This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.

THIS is IT.

Community wins.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

Has anyone in Congress considered sending their strongly worded letters of concern to the Trump administration through certified mail? I think that might do it.

If we had an honest media environment we would see more derivative headlines of "ICE IN MINNEAPOLIS MOSTLY VIOLENT, BUT SOME PEACEFUL" instead of the myopia of how Minneapolis residents are responding to an unseen featureless and infallible Executive.
KARL: In the hours after the shooting of Renee Good, you went on national TV and said to ICE, 'get the F out of Minneapolis.' Do you regret that language? That doesn't sound like turning the temperature down

JACOB FREY: I don't regret it at all. If I seemed like I was angry and frustrated, I was.

This is an excellent article!
For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

ICE seems to get completely flummoxed when they’re being yelled at by white men over 35. They kind of put their heads down and shuffle their feet. It’s like their kryptonite.

PEOPLE ARE STANDING UP!!!
At one point today, there were 283 Minnesota attorneys doing a training on how to file emergency habeas petitions to keep our neighbors from being shipped out of state and held indefinitely.

That would be the second largest law firm in the state. And that training was just put together this week.

The problem when you have a dishonest track record of public statements full of lies and exaggerations I think it’s safe to conclude that the internal bleeding would more accurately be described as bruising, at most.
Whenever I am bleeding internally after being hit by a car I keep filming on my cell
phone while briskly walking away from the scene without waiting for medical attention. What about you guys?
BREAKING: The ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Good last week in Minneapolis, Jonathan Ross, suffered internal bleeding to the torso following the incident, according to two U.S. officials briefed on his medical condition.

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

Finally.
The Minnesota shooting case is now metastasizing unlike any i've ever seen. The successive resignations of heads of the crim section at CRD and 3 top career prosecutors in Minn -- who had hung in all this year n/w/stg multiple outrages-- means the Department is in open revolt in DC and the field.

The cognitive dissonance of hating your company's management, but then thinking that the caricature of that kind of management would make for a good President will never not astound me. But, if 8+ hours of your day is servile to a feudalistic business structure... makes sense.
Millions of people voted for Trump because they thought "He's a business guy, he can do great with the economy." So one year in, how is his economic record?

Bad. Very bad. And he can't fool anyone into thinking otherwise.

I break it down at Public Notice:

One year in, Trump's economy is a mess
He may have won on a promise to fix everything, but he's only made it worse.

I would make a significant bet of money that the reason you see ICE agents using their phones to film/photograph protesters is that they have Palantir made apps to identify, research, and strategically target the most active protesters. It's an old business with new technology, but it checks out.

In a week when a century happened, from VZ to MN, the biggest story was Trump's vow that nothing can stop him but 'my own morality' and 'my own mind'

But a dictatorship that relies on brute force, alternate truth can be stopped. By our morality. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/trum...
Trump now a tyrant restrained only by ‘my own morality.’ We stop him with our own. | Will Bunch
After a monumental week that changed America, Trump believes there is no limit on his powers. We can prove him wrong.
