Saved my thread on A Christmas Carol from Twitter: Something that has really been on my mind watching different versions this year, is the depth of his heart change. These actions are atonement, yes, but not out of fear or guilt. He's finally felt love and joy again waking that Christmas morning. 1/

Always saying hello to a little creature.
Surround yourself with the kind of people who make small talk with stray animals.

Elon Musk's #GrokAI has had all of its safety featured disabled for AI generated photos, and pedophiles are having a field day with it. Stop using Twitter. I'd tell you to delete your account, but Twitter literally won't let you anymore, since Elon uses your info to train Grok.

Posting good news from my week:
•The hurt squirrel I’ve befriended in the back yard is on the mend. Walking easier, wound scabbed over.
•on a dog walk, saw a little girl excitedly taking books out of the free little library yelling “books are so cool!”
There’s some good in this world Mr Frodo.

Take care of yourself this holiday season.
- close your eyes
- take a deep breath
- embrace the gloom
- wander the trackless moors at midnight, following ghosts to the crumbling ruins of forgotten kings and magic untold
- have some tea and cake with your new ghost friends

You cannot value the librarian code of ethics while also being pro-genAI. GenAI is a direct violation of our code of ethics.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Just pulled a loose book from a bookshelf, and regrettably, a secret door didn't open, so I'm afraid your email did not "find me well."

Happy Birthday to J.R.R. Tolkien!!!
His work has shaped who I am and how I move in the world almost more than any other.
The stories and worlds he created are somewhere I return to for comfort time and time again.
I’m so grateful for him and all my trips to Middle Earth ☺️

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to read books during a raging snowstorm in front of a crackling fire whilst enjoying a plate of emotional support scones?

See, I know this is a bullshit because I’ve read a book written by someone who lived over 100 years ago. I’ve seen a play written by Shakespeare. I’ve listened to music and I’ve read poems that existed before my great-great-great-great grands were born.
A common assumption is that throughout history, people have experienced the same basic range of emotions. A radical field of history now challenges this assumption, Gal Beckerman reports. theatln.tc/KD2QRX9Y
