It’s not that COVID is causing autism

Autism is genetic. People are born with this neurotype.

It’s that Covid is causing dysautonomia aka messing with your autonomic nervous system, which is making autistic sensory challenges worse & emotional regulation harder for *everyone*

And the trauma of it (both having it happen to you & the vicarious trauma of knowing it’s happening to others) is meant to keep us submissive, quiet, afraid, and controlled

Our biological stress & fear responses are being purposely used & manipulated

I think people are erroneously interpreting the headline to mean that the Wikimedia Foundation is embracing AI for purposes like generating encyclopedia content, or are providing AI companies with more training data than they were already scraping.

Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.
Hoping that @molly.wiki can help explain.

#TheVoiceofHindRajab is a sublimely devestating masterpiece.

Kaouther Ben Hania, with the blessing of Hind's family who are involved, have painstakingly and beautifully immortalized Hind and her horrific story for all to see.

Watch it as soon as you can.

This is simply not technically possible. You cannot generate enough writing in-house to train an LLM. You cannot generate enough art in-house to train a GAN. People who think they have a model "trained on our own material" are using a base model of mass-scraped data, unknowingly or disingenuously.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."

It was amazing to watch the journalists who built this tool at work. Months and months of painstaking effort, careful reporting behind every decision.

It's the kind of work that ProPublica does best.

Use information from your prescription label to locate the factory and see if the plant has a history of inspection violations.

And bluntly the only reason most people are really concerned about literacy right now is because it’s becoming very very evident

That rich white people are very illiterate ( many through the escapism and inefficiency of homeschooling and STEM FIRST!!)

And that POC are more literate

It’s worth the time, to. I believe that and I keep reminding myself that it’s not a deterrent that I takes more time—esp when I catch myself thinking “hey wanna take another swing at that?” and wanna brush that voice in my own head off cuz it’d be quicker/simpler/getting to my next “hit”
It’s funny to me to listen to people talk about literacy difficulties …. When my first thought tends to be

“ yall are really damn mean and as much as you are bemoaning other people’s literacy you have no ability to understand how you come off or care to”
January 7, 2026 at 12:43 AM
A reminder I keep coming back to when I’m talking myself through, thinking and feeling my way through something I see online (instead of letting myself post or even not post but still have imaginary back and forths in my head for days)
I do believe we have a literacy problem … but a lot of the issue is that we have a head to toe widespread empathy and pedagogy problem

literacy is racialized and classed as problems so lay people didn’t realize how bad it was getting

Literacy requires a level of empathy that isn’t being taught because

“Tell me what that person is trying to say “ is hard to do when the sign of power is to not listen
One commenter (caveat lector) had a story about a dude with a science masters degree earning a six figure income and "it took him the same time to read a paragraph as it took for me to read a page", other commenters also saying "now ask him to explain what he read to check comprehension"
