I honestly marvel at the JCrew-lesbian-coded cinematic evil that this “journalist” couple represents in this moment
The person who publishes the Free Press — where the words “Minneapolis” and “Minnesota” never appear tonight — also runs CBS News.

If it is fascism now it was fascism then but if you were wrong no need to pause to make a special effort to admit your error -- we don't have that much time now, please act right away, get organized, and then tell your followers what you are doing to stop fascism and what they too can do.

At the Alex Pretti memorial this afternoon, people are unfurling four very large banners.

They read, "How many more will ICE murder? How many more funerals? How many more...how many more?"

Is Phil Scott the first GOP governor to do this?
Powerful new statement on MN from GOP Vermont Governor Phil Scott (1/3):

“Enough…it’s not acceptable for American citizens to be killed by federal agents for exercising their God-given and constitutional rights to protest their government. At best, these federal immigration operations ...

ICE is murdering people in the street and the Times’ resident conservatives are droning on about the totalitarian threats to speech coming from the campuses and “managerial illiberalism.”

They’ve been stale for a while, but this focus is embarrassing as a tyrannical state kills people.

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

I'm seeing people mistakenly claim the gun photo was posted before today, but its just how Google sometimes dates images based on the original date of the thread its posted in, not when it was posted. The photo was posted an hour ago in this 5 day old thread

A DHS statement claimed “an individual approached US Border Patrol officers” with “a handgun” in the Alex Pretti shooting incident. A Bellingcat analysis of the footage appears to show that a gun was taken away from where Pretti was situated by an agent just before the first shot was fired.

All you’re doing with a: “oh where are the second amendment folks now?!” is showing you took them out their word, despite all demonstrations of bad faith, and you’re just telling on yourself.

My old employer @nbcnews.com and @mattlavietes.bsky.social here doing exactly what news should not do – lead with the easily reportable lie / government account – though I don’t entirely blame Matt, because I presume this was the final call of editors or legal/standards.

Now’s as good a time as ever to remind the apathetic people in your lives that if the government murders you in broad daylight, they’ll lie and say you were a terrorist.

Just keep thinking about how Trump has established two exclaves where he may, of course, maintain an exiled claim to the throne: in Israel/Gaza, via the peace board; and in Venezuela, via its collaboration with the authoritarian government.

Thinking about all those years I spent doing “civilian-military relations” projects at #TuftsUniversity, and I also believe in this scenario, sadly.
If senior officers carry out what Trump is threatening against NATO, “the officers and enlisted people below them will likely obey the chain of command”—and “such an outcome would be a tragedy, and potentially a global catastrophe,” @radiofreetom.bsky.social argues.
The Military Is Being Forced to Plan for an Unthinkable Betrayal
Attacking an ally would be a perversion of everything the armed forces have been trained to do.
