While in LA, I learned by way of overhearing street side eatery conversation that there are “negative microbes” - some form of new diet or fasting lifestyle some such or other. Keep being you, LA.

I’m reminded, as I face a year of limited mobility how great the Olympus 35RC is and along with the Pentax 17 will be my main camera for capturing non LoFi photos in 2026.
Been slowly making my prints from our February trip to Vietnam.

We’re all seeking sunlight. Java and I are sitting outside to absorb her daily dose of sun warmth and this little lizard came out briefly, too. It went away upon noticing it wasn’t alone.

I watch NPR’s Tiny Desks in spurts and am continually surprised when I look someone up to find they also did one. The diversity is just endless. Today YouTube recommendations are handing out some good ones I’ve not seen before.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Was staring at the HBOMax logo today and felt something about its x. I hadn’t noticed before, but it’s squiggly now?

Anyway, it reminds me I saw barnardco’s video a bit ago and realized there was a neat update.

A graphic designer pointed out the HBO logo alignment is off… and the dude who designed it - Gerard Huerta (who also created the AC/DC logo) - got in touch.

A lot of comments on Mars rovers or Moon landings, but it's important to remember that the planet NASA studies most is Earth. This is less about cutting flashy things like moonwalks and more about keeping communities in the dark on climate, weather, agriculture, pollution, natural hazards, and more.

What a beautiful person and story. The era of Black Eyed Peas I started with and most loved. Their venture into commercialization with Fergie is what put them on the map, but I do miss that particular vibe in hip hop.

I drove through Kapalua yesterday; it’s worse than several months ago. No wonder The Sentry cancelled.

Not particularly fond of resort/golf course excessive use of water during droughts, and these would be different sources/uses, of course, but it is stark how water inequity plays out here.

*sob* Why did my second day of PT leave me feeling so achy? Because I asked for it and no longer want to feel like I suddenly have 80 year old knees at 40something. I heard this was a thing after 40… that your body just up and quits and yells at you for unknown crimes of your 20s. Humbled.
