Fenland is my home and muse.
Pinned
I used to spend time in Cornwall for work at electricity substations - I always made time for photography.
The Holga, some HP5, a red filter and darkroom time MADE this photograph - it wasn’t taken, captured or shot 😉 and it had nothing to do with what we call a bunch of crows.

On top of my bookcase is my beautiful Franks Solida 3 which has an uncoupled rangefinder. Haven’t used it for ages but may take it with me to photograph Brian Mickleboro when I go to collect my Rolleicord V on Tuesday following an overhaul of its transport mechanism - print made from that camera

My lovely Rolleicord V has spent a few days with the lovely Brian Mickleboro an 82 year old Rollei tech.
There was an issue with the film transport and it’s all fixed now - will go and see him and collect this week.
What a lovely gent.

There is a lot of chatter on line about the “look” of a particular film. I’ve been making darkroom RA4 prints for several years now and can usually get great and similar results from most well exposed negs irrespective of who made them - of course in some cases I could be using rebranded film.

I so much wanted to get to see the Lee Miller exhibition at the Tate but the weather has been rubbish and mobility is limited so prompted by an email from the Tate I purchased the book and should go well with the one I already have

The language of photography casually thrown around “shooting” “taking” & more recently “capturing” all leave me with a sense of unease - I’m probably over thinking it as the terms are used freely, often and with no negative intention.

A Friday evening thought

Whilst the political situation in the USA and my immobility keeps me from visiting a wonderful country - reading January digital “Frames” magazine keeps me inspired - the wonderful work of Brian Lav

Back in the colour darkroom fine tuning some Kodak Gold derived prints.
My Cousin lost her lovely , gentle Husband a few years back. How he loved that garden that backed onto one of the Norfolk Broads.
These two Rolleiflex images mean a lot.

Anyone else started watching “Small Prophets” ?
After coming late to the Detectorists (best find in 2025) , small prophets has the same gentle humour with a brilliant cast - isnt Michael Palin great - and a layered plot…

Watching “I am Martin Parr” on BBC iPlayer - if you are able to access it give it a watch. Some interesting commentary from him and others, he was often degraded by lazy commentary by photo snobs who thought they knew the man.
It’s easy to be lazy and repeat tropes.

Some lovely work here - as a film photographer and printer it’s wonderful to get inspiring all sources.
A (slightly belated) happy new year! Allow me to introduce myself to those of you unfamiliar with my work; I’m Lee, I’m a painter from England, I’m a fan of abandoned buildings, moody narratives and quiet, mildly foreboding landscapes.

Been looking at photos on my Flickr site that I will reactive sometime soon as it remains the best place for viewing photos.
When we first went to Vietnam I was heavily into home wound redscale.
I had it loaded in my Trip35

Been matching up contact sheets to negatives from the 80s
Found these snaps of me on top of a steel tower (pylon if you insist) outside of Sizewell A power station where I trained.
No risk assessments and I are my lunch up there
