Fenland is my home and muse.
This afternoon in the land of the retired I have mostly been developing a roll of HP5 from the Holga Pan 120 (Vermuyden Land print project) and catching up on some reading.

Yes the rangefinder is a bit dim on mine but works well enough and I’m a spectacle wearer.
The resultant images are crisp and sharp as it’s a lovely lens. It works in shutter priority so o just move the shutter dial to get the aperture I want as that’s how I think! Handholding down to 1/15th is east

Yet to make a print from this large format X-ray film negative (from a pinhole camera) - but it’s on my to do list for early next year.

As well as the lovely quarterly print magazine you get these excellent monthly digital magazines too.
All excellent.

Loaded up for Christmas slide show food - the 35RC is a very clever camera with a small flashgun , the “Flashmatic” system opens and closes the aperture of the camera according to focus distance and guide number set, it’s all mechanical and rather brilliant

I was encouraged by our daughter in law at last nights slide show, “oh I don’t have those photos” and “ do some more on Christmas Day” - so the slide film is back in the Olympus 35RC

Big brother and little sister - been touching up a few paint chips with some satin enamel paint.
Prints made from both these are rather lovely but at the moment I’m preferring the Rolleicord as it’s a little smaller and lighter, will take to Paris in January.

Been a fun week making colour darkroom prints.
Be back at it after Christmas break.

Not sure if you recognise that alleyway @stigofthedump.bsky.social ?

Somewhere on the 2024 November Mersey meet up I think - phone box at Forest of Dean at the campsite we stayed at.

Whatever you do don’t drop this screw on the floor….. reattaching the Rolleicord viewing hood

New screen from Rick Oleson in the States - mirror was a bit dusty but cleaned it and viewing lens whilst the screen was removed - I’ve used these screens before and they are awesome

I had my Rolleiflex 3.5e loaded with some Kodak Gold whilst we were in the Forest of Dean a couple of summers ago.
Can’t beat an old phone box so had to be done, making prints now.

The LCA 120 can be used to great effect in cramped architecture scenes like this one in the streets of Altea in Spain

Assessing colour casts is best done the next day when you’re more alert and prints are fully dry.
A blue cast can appear almost purple and get confused with magenta and cyan looks like sky blue so can be confusing.
I removed 5 units of yellow from print one on the right guessing the cast was blue.

Always a good gift

I had my LCA 120 with me as I stood fairly close to this lifeguard - not a finished version yet as I pondered overnight on it but I’m reminded how much I like the funky edges achieved with a partially filed out metal carrier.

It was a dull and rainy day as we visited Castell de Guadalest north of Benedorm last year - sometimes you just have to record something on film and hope for the best.
The reservoir was particularly low apparently.

Mary Poppins is such a great film and a wonderful way to celebrate Dick Van Duke’s 100th birthday

Been in love with 5x7 print size this year and I particularly liked making prints from the LCA120 from our Vietnam trip nearly a year ago.

I’m a subscriber to “Frames” in part a print magazine but much more than that.
In the social group I shared this print which I’ve shared here before but not with an explanation.
I used my pinhole camera and printed it to emphasise the white daisies as a sign of hope - my Mum was dying at the time.

Use these ones for my mounting machine

Alongside the Pentax 17 this year I’ve very much enjoyed using my Olympus 35RC on my travels.
