When they write about this in the future, none of us can say "we didn't know". The only thing that matters will be what we did about it.

Serious question: when prison-abolition spaces reject carceral solutions, what mechanisms exist to deal with predators in their own ranks? Community accountability sounds good in theory, but what does protection look like when harm is internal?

Objecting to incarceration does not mean objecting to restorative justice, defense or retribution. If you assault someone I love, I'm not calling the cops - we don't want to feed you to that system... But I'm showing up at your house & its getting sorted.

Watergate, but if someone was killed.
NYT confirming MS NOW reporting:

Prosecutors began investigating Renee Good's killing, then Washington told them to stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Good's vehicle, but Trump leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have since departed.

I rarely make posts. But I'm trying to do the parts of being a human that make getting through all of this worth it.

Just watched Bros (2022) staring Billy Eichner and a host of other great gay and queer comedians. Was an absolute blast.

That's my little recommendation for any of y'all tonight.

This is literally what they have the villains in children's movies do in order to show the audience that character is irredeemably evil.

This is really an instance of a very longstanding trend where secular pundits end up unwittingly aligned with fundamentalists in treating the crudest and most extreme version of any faith as the genuine article and everything else as somehow inauthentic.
Trump's attempt to crush a religious uprising might be obvious if the press corps treated everyone’s faith as equally authentic, hence equally legitimate. It doesn’t.

Here in the UK the old tradition of single-sex boarding schools for the children of the wealthy actively produces a culture of boys who are desperate for feminine attention but have no idea how to interact with women or see them as anything other than objects of desire. Those boys end up in power.

On August 12, 2017, Nazis and klansmen rallied in Charlottesville in support of Donald Trump and fascism. One of them murdered Heather Heyer.

What distinguishes that killing from the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti?

Only this: in 2026, fascists can murder on government payroll.

Abolish ICE.

If you are out observing or rapid responding to ICE today, let them know that they’ve lost. Remind them that they’ve failed and they should go home and call a lawyer.

I stand corrected. Four out of 5 Democrats want to abolish ICE.

Any elected Dem asking for less is outside the mainstream of their party.
Their new poll came out today. It's up to 79% support including 66% (!) strongly support.

What is violence?

Is it tossing a tear gas canister back to the mercenaries who shot it at you?

Is it blowing a whistle at bounty hunters who are trying to abduct someone?

Perhaps, rather than asking whether an action is "violent," we should ask—

Does it perpetrate oppression? Or interrupt it?
The Illegitimacy of Violence, the Violence of Legitimacy
What is violence? Who gets to define it? Does it have a place in the pursuit of liberation? This discussion never takes place on a level playing field.
