Treasury's advice and forecasts are clearly not working.
Even the jobseekers numbers broke above forecasts despite tight MSD rationing - although pushing people off ACC might be having an impact the other way. It's a long way off the target the Govt, drunk on their own misplaced confidence and nonsense advice from Treasury, set a year ago. (2/n)

So, Mr Seymour's 'poorest amongst us' most definitely do not live like kings or queens. In fact, 13.4% of NZ's children live in poverty that leaves them with less than an Ancient Egyptian tomb builder, let alone a king

And those kids aren't even the poorest amongst us

This week's Three Themes episode of Off Panel seemed to have struck a nerve (in a good way!), so I wanted to reshare it, as my guests brought some fascinating themes to the table which led to some great discussion. Plus: It's fun!

If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....

One of the many evils the tech industry has inflicted on our lives is that when an Act of God forces everyone to stay home from work (wild weather, earthquake, pandemic), we're now expected to Work From Home (rather than have a day off like God intended).
