Making a post telling people to stop being socially anxious and try reaching out while having comments restricted to people you follow seems a little counterproductive to the point you're trying to make.
Con advice for social anxiety:
1) The person you worry about talking to b/c you might come off weird? They're weird too. Say hi
2) Cons are a great time to tell & show people you love how they make you feel
3) If you make a good faith effort to social but fuck up, just say sorry, Tofte made you yolo

I think people really need to reclaim the idea of SOCIAL media. It's become POPULAR media. So much of it has become an asinine race to the bottom of the bottle of morals & self-respect. What's *good* about social media is meeting people. Talking. BEING FREAKING SOCIAL. Too many have forgotten that.
