thinking about how, in the Russian history elective I took in HS, every time a tsar was facing domestic weakness the teacher would turn to the assembled students and ask "so what is it time for?" and we would chant "stunning territorial annexation!" and she would respond "well, DUH, girls"

In his letter to Jonas Gahr Støre, the prime minister of Norway, Trump's displays his profound psychological pathology. Trump thinks this makes him look strong – but it's a bizarre tantrum of a megalomaniac-dark tetrad who is aggressively destabilizing the world and pushing us to another world war.

If you don't know, @elliottpayne.org is the president of the Minneapolis city council.
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

This isn’t about deporting “the worst of the worst.” It’s about deliberately sowing fear and chaos in cities that oppose the Trump regime

As I understand it, the rationale of the cops and cop-defenders is that the rhetoric in the Facebook comment could have agitated someone else into doing something violent or illegal.

Here are some of the problems with that theory.

The Mayor of Miami Beach then sent the cops to her home.

Cassidy was a shock vote to convict Trump in J6 impeachment. He’d just won a 6-year term in 2020. Cassidy, a doctor & HELP chair by ‘25, reluctantly votes for RFK and softens his criticisms on vaccine policy. Now with RFK’s agenda fully underway, Trump delivers the knife. Timing.
Trump throws a dagger into the Louisiana Senate race, pushing Rep. Julia Letlow to challenge Sen. Bill Cassidy, who has worked hard to stay on Trump’s good side.

Trump: “Should she decide to enter this Race, Julia Letlow has my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, JULIA, RUN!!!”

The fact is that many Americans have never had to be engaged in politics because they have never noticed how the government affects them. Roads are paved and tax returns come on time. It's a privilege. Many Americans, however, have not had the luxury of ignoring government.

This is probably the most accurate description.

Someone in their mid-50s today told me that this is the first time he had thought about or been affected by politics. And that guy is actively guarding buildings and his coworkers from ICE.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.
