The Supreme Court is slowly committing political harakiri. By this, I mean that it is slowly destroying the the legal and constitutional framework of the United States, and thus its own political power. 🧵

I would be super-wary of an A.I. tool that claims to restore Latin inscriptions from fragments. It can only predict the most likely words, but humans don't always write the expected. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Gillibrand apologizes to Mamdani over ‘jihad’ comments - POLITICO

So I am glad Gillibrand apologized but she should really do so publicly, not privately, given her smear against him was done publicly, on live radio in fact.

Senate Ds did fight every step of way, made the bill toxic, forced Tillis to retire, made them vote in broad daylight as bill got worse, nixed some truly awful parts. They need more members. In 2026, vote out every R. That is what the lesson is here.

This is true. Safety-net hospitals in both rural and urban areas are already stretched thin, in part because of the exhaustion and attrition of healthcare workers after COVID. If outpatient Medicaid collapses, the deluge in unreimbursed ER visits and admissions will drown the system.
Spoke with someone who works with a public hospital system. His assessment of the effects of the GOP spending bill: “I think this is going to be a very apparent catastrophe, very quickly.”
