“Where the GOP learned to lie as a matter of course is an interesting question, and I’m afraid I’ve had a front row seat. I think it’s the climate fight, more than anything else, that taught them to regard reality as optional.”

67% of the homicides in Minneapolis and 50% of the homicides in all of Minnesota this year have been committed by federal agents.

Read that again.

Interestingly, what is typically the most “safe” mutual aid work—like delivering food to people in need—is now the most necessarily secretive, while that which is typically “risky”—directly confronting armed agents of the state—is unavoidably public and open.
What's tough to get across to folks outside MN is that both the occupation & everyday resistance are both happening at such a scale that it's kinda flipped a lot of what most would assume makes sense for precautions or 'opsec'. Everything from spicy stuff to mundane have different rules than before

It’s not a flaw or an accident.

It’s day 62 of the ICE occupation of MSP.

Get out there and shovel your immigrant neighbor’s sidewalks- it’s a great way to help a neighbor in hiding, and you can watch out for ICE in your neighborhood at the same time!

There were 3800 children in ice custody in December. We have no idea how many they have now. This began with Obama and only increased under Biden. This administration has increased holding children in camps.

1 less now that Liam is home.

Bring them all home. Close the camps.

I know this from researching police salaries for a recent paper: many cities have a set of officers taking home more than $500k and they can’t really explain why

One Oakland police officer made $490,000 in overtime. The city can’t find records detailing much of what he did
One OPD officer logged 5,242 total working hours, racking up $490,000 in overtime pay. If he worked more than half of the time in a calendar year, why can't the city tell us what he did?

You’re describing an emergency. The world is also watching you and waiting for you to do something.

Are you going to establish an eviction moratorium? Rent is due today.
They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.

For the billionth time, we are neighbors helping neighbors. That's it.

I know people using the terms "insurgency" and "agitators" are acting in bad faith, but everyone else needs to treat them with flat-earth levels of disdain and contempt. The analysis should be "this is 1,000% wrong, DUH."

I'm calling bullshit on the media narrative that Trump is "pivoting" and "deescalating" on his ICE raids. The threshold is this: As long as the military occupations and the treatment of US cities as enemy territory continue, there's no pivot. ICE out. 1/

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

ICE has been holding a disabled Black man for a year!

Rodney Taylor is a double amputee who was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE took him.

He’s been denied his prosthetics & placed in solitary.

His health is declining.

Public outrage might save his life.

Did I mention that large portions of MN’s population are in hiding right now? Kids are missing school. Adults can’t go out to work. People aren’t able to buy food or pay rent, and mutual aid is all keeping everyone going. We keep us safe, on our own, and people are being shot in the street for it

I think what a lot of folks miss is how profitable deportation is for the corporations involved & the politicians they're backing.

Holding people, physically removing them, is cost for the taxpayer & profit into the pockets of the worst people you can imagine.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:
