since using Calbiri (easier for visually impaired people) rather than TNR costs literally nothing, this is just ableism for its own sake. these are the kind of people who resent seeing a wheelchair ramp.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

HK Office for Safeguarding National Security has announced that they have summoned foreign journalists and heads of media organisations in response to false information and smears about the Tai Po fire and tomorrow's LegCo elections.

I guess authorities get nervous when students express solidarity with anyone who isn't GovHK or CCP?

Cos otherwise, expressing sympathy to fire victims and advocating justice for them is about as uncontroversial a statement you can make in this environment and it still makes authorities skittish.
Hong Kong Baptist University has axed its student union after a message was posted on campus expressing condolences and urging justice for the victims of a major fire, according to a letter publicly shared on Dec 5.

It appears that pretty much all Hong Kong-based newsfluencers, even those with international bylines or appearances, got a memo within the last 12 hours that they should shut up about the deadly fire, or else face consequences.

Cash finally received after 10.5 weeks.
Miles refund not received yet
No compensation offered
No interest offered
Nothing to keep me as a customer
After nearly 10 weeks – and daily chasing via email and WhatsApp for the past week – CX have finally provided a refund timeline: seven more business days. It’s a shame they had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to this point.
I’ve now been waiting over 9 weeks for my CX refund. Nothing but fluff, waffle and opaqueness from their _formal_ customer service dept. Been a loyal customer for over 24 years. Counts for nothing to today’s CX sadly.
