Third country detention continues.
And here’s an Omni jet landing in Equatorial Guinea yesterday. This is very likely a third-country removal to a torture prison, the second in a week and the third there overall.

Marco Rubio paid off their dictator using humanitarian funds.

This is critical because the past two years have seen a lot of viral calls for general strikes on a range of vital issues, but these have rarely materialized into the organizing power & logistical coordination necessary for an actual general strike.

1) The general strike came from organizing for a general strike. Not from social media posting about going on a general strike, but organizing in neighbourhoods, organizing power in unions, and organizations drawing out members and networks.

I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

But when I asked an organizer what they wanted to see out of press coverage, they told me they wanted people to see the beautiful things they are building here, and not just the worst stories of the worst of ICE's crimes.

What people are doing here is beautiful. It's a tragic beauty, but a real one

With so many of us watching the tremendous mobilizations in Minneapolis, culminating in the call to action against ICE today, I wanted to share some of what I have gathered from talking to comrades in Minneapolis over the past few weeks. A few things stood out:

Minneapolis you are an inspiration
I'm on the Green Line towards downtown Minneapolis ICE OUT protest.

The train filled immediately. Even 20 stops away from our destination we reached capacity.

People are cheering at every stop when they see people waiting to board because we are all starting to realize how big this is.

The whistles are fantastic. That tactic - and a TON of the whistles - came from a group of organizers & activists in Rogers Park, Chicago, where Bovino and his goobermensch were before coming here. This is a global resistance.
Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

The family of three, who have a pending asylum application, went to urgent care on Jan. 15 to get medical help for their 7-year-old daughter. They only made it to the parking lot as immigration officers detained them. It's the same location where federal officers recently shot two people.

The family’s detainment marks the first confirmed detainment of an entire family in Oregon, advocates say.

Pro tip: If you are attending a rally or action, wear a N95 mask & bring extras to give to others.

High quality masks can serve triple-duty: they prevent you and others from getting sick from airborne viruses, they keep your face warm in the freezing cold, & they can protect against surveillance.

So she had a pulse. That’s what the doctor on the scene wanted to check. She wasn’t breathing, but she had a pulse. He could have started CPR right away.

Instead ICE barred the doctor from attending her and waited 15 mins for EMT to get to her.

Impeaching Noem is symbolic and symbols matter. And it should be used as an organizing tool and a way to keep the issues about ICE/DHS fresh in people's minds and importantly to propose ACTUAL ways to dismantle these institutions. This is the point I've been making for the past few weeks.
