Trump gets a pass on violent rhetoric, and he shouldn't. Calling the police is the correct response. Journalists should also take this seriously, demanding explanations and accountability from the White House, instead of pretending this is just a Thursday.
Important: House Dem leaders just said Trump's call for execution of Dems has prompted them to contact US Capitol Police and House Sergeant at Arms to "ensure the safety of these members and their families."

trump gave out about US presidents for 50 years but it was always US democracy that really pissed him off.

I think it’s focus-group-brain; he’s genuinely filtering everything - literally 100% of the words he says in public - through the instructions that someone else has given him, so it all sounds automatically uncertain and insincere. It’s like he’s speaking a foreign language.
