Crow: "It just tells us everything that we need to know that reminding people to obey the law, reminding people to obey the Constitution, is somehow criminal in Trumpworld and should be responded to with death threats. It's very, very telling."

Not to kick on Larry Summers when he's down, but once, on an academic panel, I ventured that any economic model that could not provide half the young black men in a major city with legal employ wasn't working well. He replied by lecturing us all on the dangers of communism.

First-rate mind there.

And if you've previously picked a side, you don't have to stay there. Whatever you may have thought Trump was, he's proven his unfit. Let's be pro-democracy now. We can go back to party politics when we get through this.

John Oliver and Co did a great explanation of what public media does, and who exactly the funding recission actually hurts (Hint: it's not liberal elites.) Also very proud to see my old friend and former WBEZ reporter Lauren Chooljian featured for her amazing work.

I don't recall seeing a Kentucky team with shot selection and a lack of patience this poor since last week's game against Louisville. I love my Wildcats but damn we need to get some seriousness and focus into this team.

John Oliver had masterful segment on public media and how pulling federal money hurt rural consumers legislators said they were defending, while making it more likely those stations need NPR and PBS. And he's doing a cool auction to raise money. WATCH: https://loom.ly/t7FRhXc

You should watch this report by Scott Pelley of @60minutes.bsky.social — while more of a synopsis of the earlier reporting on this utterly corrupt pardon of Binance’s founder as the Trumps feather their fetid nest, bringing it all together makes for a powerful indictment.

This is just theater for MAGA. If Trump REALLY wanted the Epstein Files released, he doesn't need Congress. He could just call Pam Bondi and order her to release them. He hasn't. And won't. He and Pam have cooked up a new "ongoing investigation" that she can use as an excuse not to release evidence.

Any elected Democrat that couldn't be bothered to endorse Mamdani but is now falling over themselves to welcome MTG's sudden conversion to is everything that's wrong with the party leadership.

Trump's 50 year mortgage isn't designed to help home ownership. It's designed to dupe young people into leasing a house from a bank and die with nothing to show for it.

Coons on Epstein files: "My hunch is that AG Bondi, having just been ordered on social media by the president to open an investigation into a series of high-profile Dems, will promptly say, 'No, there's an ongoing investigation, we can't disclose any of this,' and the president will back that up."

This is the game. Trump will "give" Massive and MTG their hollow victory while continuously claiming he's released everything he *legally* can and none of the *released* files implicate him.
Game is being played.

As soon as Congress votes to release the Epstein files,

DOJ will claim some ongoing investigation that prohibits the release of anything with TACO’s name on it.
November 17, 2025 at 1:44 PM
Trump's "flip" on the Epstein vote is a smoke screen. It comes with the caveat he wants to release anything he "legally can". Remember his tax returns never released as he blamed legal limits from "audits". With Trump's ordered Dem investigations, he will claim Epstein files can't be fully shared.

It's a revealing moment...

J.D. Vance welcomes a two-legged robot helping on the job site. But if that helper is a person named Jose, he calls it a threat. Same tasks, same productivity boost.

The inconsistency reveals this isn’t about economics.

Affordability is just the 2025 way of saying "it's the economy stupid". It's ALWAYS the economy. The Democratic leadership had a winning message focusing on healthcare costs and food subsidies. Then they blinked.

Meanwhile the MAGA is tanking the economy to satisfy the Mad King.

An administration that was running to SCOTUS to halt payments to hungry Americans was not winning the public battle. There was zero reason for this deal now. It was bad negotiation strategy and bad politics. I just can't fathom what they were thinking.
