Adaptation is going to be a key area of negotiation at #COP30 in Belem next week, including landing on 100 indicators to track progress on adapting to climate change under the GGA

Ahead of COP kicking off, I took a look at the GGA and how experts whittled down the list of 10k indicators to just 100

So spot on. And unfortunately similar to many of the DOE report responses
Claim: "Water vapor is a greenhouse gas!"
Reality: Yes, and there's more of it in a warmer atmosphere

-"CO2 is plant food!"
-pretty hard to eat when you're on fire

-"Climate has changed before!"
-We know, we told you that

-"Scientists don't know everything!"
- doesn't mean we know *nothing*

If your NSF or NIH grant was terminated--whether at Harvard or elsewhere--please report it here.

NSF: grant-watch.us/submit-nsf.h...

NIH: grant-watch.us/submit-nih.h...

Our trackers are actively used in lawsuits and are often the only record that terminations ever occurred.
NSF appears to be terminating hundreds of its grants to Harvard, per internal sources at NSF and at Harvard. At least one division has had all its grants cut.

Yup. This was literally me. Funded by Nautilus Minerals to do baseline environmental impact assessment for a hydrothermal vent mine. Went in cautiously optimistic. Came out concluding there's no feasible path forward for mining a hydrothermal vent at any scale.
It's wild that all my colleagues who are funded by a deep sea mining company to research the topic ultimately conclude that we shouldn't mine the deep sea.

We should stop seeing the ocean as a place to exploit instead of a place of wonder and beauty and an essential part of our life support system.

Air pollution from fossil fuels causes at least 15% of deaths in the U.S., also heart disease, strokes, dementia, preterm birth, low birth weight, asthma and COPD.
It reduces crop yields and work productivity, and damages GDP.
There are lots of reasons to use clean energy, including health.
15+ years old, but still VERY relevent — and if we had acted 15 years ago, the “better world” we’d be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences we’re just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner. Even worse if we don’t heed it now. #ClimateCrisis
