BC could do this too…
WA's elevator bill SB 5156 passed the Senate today, 41 - 7.

It instructs state agencies to:

- allow smaller elevators in buildings up to 6 stories and 24 units

- consider harmonization with global standards

- assess other cost tradeoffs

On to the House!

Ahhh, another episode of the Moe Show has ended. (Moe Sihota on the radio talking over everyone about everything.)

I listened to an interview with Jeffrey Rath (Alberta Separatist group) and I thought he should get more airtime. It was very illuminating.

Housing is a federal issue from when the *federal* government decided a national organization (CMHC) would move away from building social housing and focus only on insuring mortgages.

Shirking a responsibility doesn’t make it so. That’s deadbeat dad logic.
It's just objectively silly — and, I would argue, very counter-productive — that housing has come to be seen as a *federal* issue.

Provincial and municipal governments increasingly only exist as rumours in Canada.

I forgot to mention it…Tuesday was the 20yr anniversary of me moving to Vancouver.

Am I allowed to call myself a Vancouverite yet? Probably not since I still haven’t taken a yoga class.

Starting a new activity at 48 is so much harder than starting a new activity at 29. Especially when the new activity is running.

The sad part is there are a lot of rich voters who don’t care he’s an idiot, as long as he’s being cruel to the poor.
The city just laid off 300 people. "Zero means zero" etc. But ok let's have a $2 million one-night show.

Honestly the dumbest thing about this is that the funding shortfall for the Celebration of Lights - for 3 shows - was about $650k

Every time Alberta albertas, I think about a queer friend who moved to a small town there because it was more affordable than Vancouver.

I also found it strange that the brand new Qatari plane was having electrical problems.
Still not 100% buying that it was just cabin lights being flaky that got Air Force One turned around.

I really enjoyed this lecture after yesterday’s Carney speech.

(Maybe a little reprieve after news that morally-vacant ICE is using children as bait.)

American exceptionalism:

Only Americans get to express dismay at Americans about their terrible administration. The rest of the world hasn’t done their homework. (A common sentiment I’m seeing online today.)

I love my profession deeply, but some of them are not covering themselves in glory these days. If a mob boss draws a sharp blade languidly across your palm and says it would be a real shame for you to lose your pinky, your headline isn't "Godfather rules out hacking off finger to settle debt."
Right on cue, here are the push alerts from the 3 major newspapers lmao

“You’re nothing without me!”

The mantra of every mediocre man who is getting dumped.
Trump: "Canada gets a lot of freebies from us. They should be grateful but they're not. He watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn't so grateful. But they should be grateful to us. Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, next time you make your statements"

As a rule I try not to listen to DT speak because I can feel my brain leaking out of my ear. So, journalists, I expect you to do your job and tell me what he said…not just play his insane ramblings on air.
