Everything NBA, some sad Hornets, a smattering of other stuff. Same Statcenter but with a bigger wingspan.
One of the many reason the "could an elite NCAA team beat a mediocre NBA team?" debate has always been ridiculous. You think the backup big at Florida is combining size, skill, and hoops IQ like this?

Which guard would you most want on your team for the next 3 years? (Assume equal $)

"Always draft forwards from Duke" is the new "always draft guards from Kentucky"
I think the efficiency cools off a little bit eventually but…

Jalen Johnson is averaging 22.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game with 64.6% true shooting.

24-11-9 in the last 8 games.
new locked on hawks is live today, breaking down the second win in as many nights

- a win is a win
- 4 guys with 20+ points
- transition defense!
- DREB issues
- plenty of late drama

The Kings:

- are the 2nd-oldest team in the NBA
- have the #25 offense
- have the #28 defense
- have lost 8 straight by double digits
- Sabonis just tore his meniscus

Has any team ever felt this hopeless in Nov?

First Vucevic's game-winner the night before, then his alma mater gets in on the act

Barring major injury, Nikola Vucevic is going to join the 17K pts / 10K rebs / 1K 3PT club before the end of this season.

That's a club that only has two members: LeBron and Dirk.

Good grief Amen
This was just nasty from Amen, hits Mobley with the double cross as soon as he turns his hips and it is all over with Thompson's athleticism.

Deeper rotations are the new secret sauce* to regular season success.

* Secret to about 10 current coaches apparently
Notes on the NBA injury crisis. Players are logging more miles and moving at a faster speed than ever before.

A few ideas:
Shorten the season (never happening)
Use deeper rotations
Shorter stints with multiple rests
More zone defense

Maybe Tuomas Iisalo wasn't so crazy in moving the Grizzlies towards more hockey-style shifts. Might be the only way for players to withstand today's pace and movement.
Steve Kerr said he’s “concerned” about the increase in soft tissue injuries across the NBA. His medical staff believes the increased pace paired with the schedule has led to it.

“They believe the wear and tear, the speed, the pace, the mileage is factoring into these injuries.”

The Thunder, Nuggets, and Rockets are each in the top 4 in both offense AND defense.

Miles ahead of the rest of the league right now.

Small sample sizes, but Bronny was taking 8.7 3PA / 100 possessions last season.

This season so far: 4.5 / 100. Can't be doing that at 6'2".
Luka Doncic is visibly frustrated by Bronny James not taking the open shots two possessions in a row against the Bucks

3️⃣ Things I Noticed on League Pass

🚘 Deni Avdija, driving and dishing
✂️ Nikola Jokic, short-cutting
🙆‍♂️ Jaden McDaniels, stretching himself

Avdija leads the NBA in passes thrown on the drive. By a lot. And it's working really well for the Blazers.

Truly the dumbest delay of game / tech I can ever remember. Screwed the Jazz out of a point and of course, the game eventually goes to OT
Jazz coach Will Hardy: "Get the fuck out of here. The ball boy wiping up sweat just got a delay of game?"

Referee Mark Davis: "Yep"

Hardy: "That's fucking bullshit"

This was a fun topic to dive into, in part because it allows for comparisons to other sports.

The chart below is the key takeaway from the post: Calling a timeout does not appear to help teams trying to stop an extended scoring run from their opponents:
