I’m seeing a lot of people predict that “the right wing media is going to turn this story for Trump” and “they’re going to work overtime to make America forget this” and you should tell that to all these people out there in Minnesota in fucking January. This can matter. This will matter.
A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

So ICE murdered a woman in cold blood in Minneapolis, I see. At the time of her death she wasn’t trying to promote racist ideology or murder Congress to overthrow democracy, so American conservatives are not going to consider her a hero or a martyr.

MAGA is a very traditional—we might say foundational—American human spirit. It believes human interconnectivity has rigid boundaries and society beyond them is a lie, that some people matter and the rest do not, and that for those who do not, life must be earned or punishment and death are deserved.
