Soup for a snow day.

Butternut squash soup with sweet potato, carrot, apple, tofu (which just dissolves into the soup), aromatics (shallot, garlic), ginger, sage and other spices, in veggie broth. A little milk is added at the end, but can be made vegan by using coconut or almond milk.

surprise*! long covid is “not just a post-viral condition” but a kind of immunological doom spiral

doesn’t mean it can’t be treated or even stopped but it is in fact a set of active, self-reinforcing feedback loops and not just “damage” or “remaining symptoms”

*not surprised

How about we worry less, as a society, about whether individuals might be cheating to get a disability accommodation or some help buying food, and more about whether extremely wealthy people and corporations are paying their fair share of taxes?

It’s an incredible success of ADA+IDEA: many disabled students can make it to college now. We should be thrilled to have student pool that better reflects society and shows the benefits of inclusion and accommodations in k-12. Celebrate that we have so many disabled students! This is a win.

I have to say: It's woefully unfortunate how unfamiliar many healthcare providers are with the insurances they take, or our state's Health Connector CS agents are with the _the systems they are supposed to advise on_.

I have been spending hours a day for several days now on this, with little luck.

"Teens may have come up with a new way to detect, treat Lyme disease using CRISPR gene editing."

But the Trump administration cut the money (granted to pursue the research), claiming it fell under DEI – diversity, equity and inclusion www.cbsnews.com/news/teens-m...
Teens may have come up with a new way to detect, treat Lyme disease using CRISPR gene editing
To compete at iGEM, a sort of science Olympics, teens at a Georgia high school set their sights on finding a better way to detect and treat Lyme disease. Their approach uses CRISPR gene editing.

6 years today the first COVID case was identified in a man in Wuhan marking the beginning of a global pandemic that changed the world. We are way less prepared today to face another pandemic than we were back then. This fact makes me sad.

Am I a Canada fangirl

It costs next to nothing to wear a mask

It’s one of the best investments you can make in your long term health

Covid is still here & still disabling

It only takes one infection to change your life forever

Masks, especially N95s, are great protection!

If you can’t afford one try a mask block:

Hey, remember the whole 'look at these two pictures and tell me what's missing or different' exercise in kids' classrooms and/or "IQ tests"?

Never in my life did I think I'd be using that skillset to notice AI.

Count me among those completely EFFED by the One Big Beautiful Bill.

At absolute best - and I think I'll be finding out tomorrow this is a no - I'll lose either my PCP or the vast majority of my specialists.

But based on what I'm seeing on my state healthcare site, I won't have healthcare at all.

I want to underscore something very important: Nearly _no one_ knows how many COVID infections they've had.

Just how many they've noticed.

For an infection that causes tremendous systemic damage with repeat infectious, that is a HUGE deal.

[1/2?]
This person was infected with COVID twice and recovered. A 3rd infection brought manageable long COVID symptoms, but they were still able to work. After a 4th infection a few months ago, they haven’t recovered at all — showing how repeated infections can cause severe, lasting damage.
