It’s the seventh anniversary of the publication of ‘Everything is awesome: Don’t forget the Lego’ in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, which told how six “paediatric health-care professionals were recruited to swallow a Lego head” and measure how long it took to ~ahem~ pass through them

Britain has set a new wind generation record.

"At 7:30pm on 11 November wind turbines...provided enough clean electricity to power more than 22 million homes"

"Wind was delivering 43.6% of all power on the system which means three quarters of Britain’s homes were effectively running on wind alone"
Windpower sets new record for baseload - Energy Live News

Would you mind if I gave my zines a little push again? Hopefully the first batch(es) have reached owners now. Maybe a good Christmas gift for someone who likes photography 👀.

Here are four pics of the same house taken over several years. #Zine #Photography

It would make sense the next clusterfuck ended up in US insurance, tbh. They mostly dodged the post GFC reforms, have a super weird regulatory/supervisory structure, and the risk that was moved out of banking had to go somewhere
US life insurers are increasing their chances of suffering a run by borrowing more from short term markets and risking the kind of panic that would encourage policyholders to demand cash too. Great numbers in this @opinion.bloomberg.com editorial >> www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...

Although the Cloudflare outage yesterday was a massive screwup, you have to give props to the Cloudflare team for being open about sharing the post-mortem info.

Lots of companies absolutely refuse to do this (or couch it in vague legalese terms).

Cloudflare do fess up, which is to be applauded.
Cloudflare outage on November 18, 2025
Cloudflare suffered a service outage on November 18, 2025. The outage was triggered by a bug in generation logic for a Bot Management feature file causing many Cloudflare services to be affected.

We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…
