This is an excellent piece about the addictive political hit of quick fix solutions…
🚨NEW BLOGPOST🚨

Fast answers, overconfidence and the superficial appearance of rigour. Airport bookstores are the perfect place for those who chase fresh ideas without doing the legwork.
Unfortunately, much of our policy is shaped by the same impulse.

A breathtaking look at a dying star. This new image of the Helix Nebula is just in from JWST.

We've never seen this level of detail, as the star's remains stream back out to interstellar space. Our Sun will look something like this 7 billion years from now. 🧪🔭

The TACO cycle:

Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank.

So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.

Let's not blow this out of proportion. It was just an admin error. Two admin errors. A few admin errors. Seventeen admin errors worth £380,000.
… including payments for promoting gold, presenting on GB News and from his friend George Cottrell, within 28 days.

Reform UK leader apologised for what he described as administrative errors by his team.

Excellent thread of why the status quo of international order generally holds.

See also the reasons why nation states usually avoid directly capturing or assassinating other nation state’s leaders in peacetime.
1/ Something which I don't think gets articulated clearly often enough is that a system where countries generally respect international sovereignty and territorial integrity is not pure charity or morality by the United States, but in its direct interests.

Despite it being the strongest bear.
