The answer does kind of have to be “win every election for the next 12 years” though. The GOP hasn’t moderated because they’ve been able to come back with convincing victories on the heel of Democratic wins
I feel like some of this is an attempt to control a very profound anxiety: the fact that the US right has responded to both its electoral victories and defeats by becoming more and more openly fascistic implies something that needs an answer beyond "win every election forever"
