This shows that clear, consistent policy works. Which is exactly why backtracking now would be a mistake. Rolling back targets or creating uncertainty would slow investment and innovation.

I concur with this sentiment. I finally realised my life-long dream of having a really good stereo system (built by me) a few years ago, and my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. On some tracks, it's like having the artist in the room with you.
One big piece of advice I would give everyone who can is to get a proper sound system. Even if you're only going to play streaming audio through it, the experience of hearing music filling the room is *infinitely* better than headphones, a laptop speaker or, God forbid, a phone speaker.
