Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

I think entirely too much about how California’s climate plan explicitly says that converting to EVs is not nearly enough to meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets so we need to reduce VMT 25% by 2030, and then we do basically nothing to try to achieve that goal

Did you ever wonder where bromine come from?

I never did. But it was still really interesting to read about!

Magnetic resonance people are so wild for terrible acronyms, you gotta wonder if the magnetic field does something to our brains.

Someone needs to invent a device that can move me and my cats directly from the sofa to my bed without disturbing the cuddle puddle that has formed in my lap.

I have recently added #ChemChat as a feed thanks to @stephy.bsky.social (and to @chemjobber.bsky.social for the concept)

If that's your sort of thing, here it is:

I warn you though, mere moments in and I'm considering bread concepts (again). Enter at your own risk.

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

Sad update: unfortunately, after the first round of prototyping, the colored component did not make the cut and we’re back in yellow chemistry territory.
Ok, fine, I’ll admit it:

This very tedious formulation prototyping project would be less tolerable if it weren’t so frickin’ PINK

It might be true that the world needs to remove ten billion tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere every year but it’s never going to happen for many different reasons: technical, financial, social, environmental, governance, etc. If we don’t reduce CO₂ emissions, we’re screwed. That’s it.

10bn tonnes must be captured from the air every year to limit global heating to 1.7C, says Johan Rockström
