It's the Guardians & ABCs of the world who pretend to hold righteous ground in media; they couldn't *possibly* be bigoted!

But they are, and it seeps into HR and where they put POC staff." @antounissa.bsky.social

Tascha Van Auken, field director for Zohran Mamdani's mayoral campaign, talks about what worked:

Talking to voters
Simple, clear campaign messages, and
People power

Three things that establishment Democrats don't have, or fail to value.
Tascha gave so many people the courage to knock that first door, make that first call and build the bridges with our neighbors that got us this far.

Together, we fought for a city for all of us. Now, we’ll build a City Hall for all of us.

Zoe Daniel answers her own question.
The media is too often lazy.

Or more likely complicit - ignoring LNP lies and actively spruiking fossil fuels.

Seems that the main function of Trump's so-called peace plan for Gaza is to enable the west's political and media class to pretend that the #GazaGenocide is over.

No peace without justice.

But they are probably all 'non-lethal components' - right @senatorwong.bsky.social ? #SudanGenocide #auspol
The Australian Government for the past five years has been pushing weapons sales into the UAE at an astonishing scale. This is the result. Australia tying itself to more appalling war crimes, now in Sudan.

The Trump regime's policies will make this even worse. Deliberately.
Don't forget literacy levels. This genuinely shocked me.

bsky.app/profile/colo...
Which also answers the current question, "How did we get here?"

Well, over half the country has literacy skills below the sixth grade, and one in five people (21 %, FFS) cannot read at all. And that just blows my mind.

So the #NewsCorpse sane-washing term for the Trumpian white nationalist misogynist culture-warring radical right represented by Andrew Hastie is "post-liberalism". 😆🙄 #auspol
The idea that liberals like Brandis and Bragg fear Hastie because they "can't control" his post-liberal (reactionary?) philosophy...

Why should we discard the simpler explanation that results of this Red Tory revolution in Australia have been very poor?

Donald Trump is astonished that Norway is vastly wealthy, the richest Government in the world, because of the North Sea oil and gas, but the UK with the same North Sea is poor

I'll cure his astonishment it is because it has been completely privatised in the UK, and not in Norway

Not only is that demonstrably rubbish, it's precisely the insular, parochial, ill-educated and ignorant mindset that led to the US electing Trump.

Twice.

"The effect of the right’s psychological warfare has been to make the BBC confuse genuine impartiality with the appearance of balance. At its worst, this produces a neurotic both-sidesism that is not just bland but untruthful."

With the BBC under siege, there are parallels and warnings for the ABC.
The BBC is always under attack. But this time it has been sabotaged by conservative ideologues deep within its heart. Is it time for the culture secretary to step in?
