Don't steal pies this Christmas.

I love this!

Working in retail can be tough at the best of times, but at Christmas it's off the scale*. Be kind to shop assistants, it's really not their fault, whatever it is. If someone give really good service, tell them! You never get tired of being told you're doing a good job. Spread the love!

Oh god, a thousand times this!! The unbending curriculum, the endless assessments, the office-cosplay uniform... my kids hate it all.
Politicians wringing their hands over why teachers are leaving the profession. The truth is, we'd get more people staying in teaching if our various Governments understood that the real purpose of education is *not* to build a compliant workforce, but a society of well-rounded individuals...

My 6 yo thinks our wise men statues (inherited from my great-grandma; we’re not religious so they don’t have any idea who Jesus is lmao) are drag queens. They keep calling them “the queens” and having them put on shows on the “stage” (the table behind our couch). It’s the absolute best

The replies to this are an absolute joy, a quiet celebration of the tiny things that can bring happiness.
this was a weekend of unrelenting horrors, but if you had a small nice thing happen I would like to hear about it

maybe you read a great book or saw a cute dog walking down the street or your soup turned out really good? please share

Finally, someone is thinking about those poor millionaires and billionaires 😆
Idea: whining about your taxes in the press comes with a *free* wallet inspection from HMRC just to make sure you're not over paying

Just embarrassing. Reeves here demonstrating in under 30 seconds why trust in politicians is at an all-time low and @greenparty.org.uk membership is at an all-time high. This, as my children would say, is pure cringe.
Watch as Rachel Reeves brands Greens leader Zack Polanski a 'keen hypnotherapist'

This. I naively thought that as a parent I would spend all my time dispensing pearls of wisdom like some ancient sage but turns out most parenting is just steadying the rope as they climb.
Eldest College Kid is on the phone being upset about a midterm grade and torn between electrical or manufacturing engineering. I am being a Good Parent and smiling and nodding while all of this goes over my poor little my-degree-is-in-marine-bio brain.

First Goon Show I ever heard. Borrowed from the library on LP 40 years ago (imagine that!). Love at first listen and still my favourite episode.
On this day 71 years ago:

LURGI STRIKES BRITAIN was first broadcast

It was also Eric Sykes' first joint writing credit on the Goon Show
