I wouldn't spend any amount of time on this at all if it was Just a fake story. Fake stories go viral all the time (UberEats, Jamaican Masterpiece), whatev. But this one was also leading people to specific conclusions about what women in fandom are like, based on something that didn't happen

That affects people's mental models about women, y'know? It gets referenced in future talks. "Remember that guy who got kicked out" becomes shorthand that speaks to how real groups of people are thought of. Also it comes from a guy who calls men men but women feeeeeemales. That speaks to motivation

He refers to women as "females." He constructed a viral story designed to make women look bad, and when a queer woman questioned it he endorsed calling her a bitch. I think this man doesn't like women, and made up a story about them, and is now enjoying watching one get called a bitch for noticing.
