Can someone be please stop the president from further demolition/construction on the White House? He doesn’t own the place. Doesn’t even pay rent. How is this legal? Would anyone like to start a lawsuit? One thing is clear: asking him to stop isn’t working.

@rufus-hickok.bsky.social “Too Late to Call” is turning into a Banquo’s ghost of a song, constantly popping up, then morphing into something like “Goodbye to You” or, most recently, Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.” I oughta play it for my guitarist autistic son, who spots similarities in music.

The best Trump can do now is acknowledge that RFK Jr. lied and misled, and fire him.

@mluckovich.bsky.social I had a clever answer—A, because it appeals to our increasing violent streak plus suggested the question of how animals without opposable thumbs could carry arms. Then you deleted it. Well, you have my opinion, and that’s what counts.

I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope.

She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive.

But the FDA recently denied its approval.

Now, her health hangs in the balance.

Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵

Listening to Sarah Sherman interview on Good One podcast. Vulgar and funny. Does she realize that the greatest thing she does is give viewers a moment of relief when she shows up on Weekend Update—because we know it’ll work.

“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader” is hiding,” Trump wrote. “He is an easy target, but is safe there—We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.”

It’s serious stuff but still: what are the chances anyone thought “take out” was dinner and a movie?

May 1 I submitted 3 short pieces of flash nonfiction to Brevity. Today I found 3 rejection emails. Gently encouraging, in a form-email way, but I envision the reader holding each story at a distance, with thumb and forefinger, like me years ago with my kids’ dirty diapers: eew, where do I put this.
