Meeting this Friday! We're talking Lycastes.

Tim Culbertson will speak on the genus Lycaste, most especially, the smaller cooler growing varieties. These are wonderful plants to grow here in Santa Cruz.

Cymbidium sinense is a wonderful, small growing species with very strongly scented flowers that have one of the sweetest fragrances of any flower. I can smell these blooms from across the room. This is relatively easy to grow and bloom by orchid standards. #orchids #bloomscrolling

Paphiopedilum Golden Palace is a hybrid of Memoria Larry Heuer x armeniacum. This cultivar has low quality flowers, but it blooms frequently, grows easily, and stays small. Mottled foliage is stunning and the bright yellow flowers bring a spark of color to my plant stands. #orchids #bloomscrolling

My Masdevallia descendens mini orchid has been working hard and putting out some really beautiful new leaves. It's filling out its space in the large terrarium nicely.

In other jewel #orchids terrarium news, the silvery jewel orchid Goodyera viridiflora is blooming waaaay in the back. The flowers are intricate and cute, but unobtrusive. Once I show it to my fellow nerds at the orchid club meeting next Wednesday, I'll probably cut it off in favor of leafy vibes. 🌱🪴
