If a legal permanent resident can have his green card revoked for exercising his first amendment rights, there’s nothing to stop them from going after citizens, too.
NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day
Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

We’re alarmed and outraged that two of our key partners, Mahmoud and Ahmed Muna, have been arrested in Jerusalem for the crime of selling books.
The Educational Bookshop in East Jerusalem was raided today, and its owners, Mahmoud and Ahmed Mona, were arrested.
The bookstore is one of the premier Palestinian cultural institutions of East Jerusalem; Mahmoud Mona is among the most inspiring figures in the city.

The Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem has been raided by Israeli security forces. Mahmoud and Ahmad Mina have been taken to custody. Anyone who’s visited Palestine knows how serious this is for freedom of speech and cultural organising in Palestine and Israel.

Bondi's Justice Department looks poised to prosecute blue state doctors who mail abortion pills into red states, probably under the Comstock Act.

She's also very likely to restrict access to medication abortion WITHIN blue states by declaring that *all* mailing of abortion pills is unlawful.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024.

You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right?

Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year.

You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.
Tesla Paid Zero Federal Income Tax in 2024, Despite $2.3 Billion in Income
This brings Tesla’s average tax rate over the past three years to 0.4 percent.

For years, I've heard global health & dev experts talk about corruption as a big issue in the Global South

After seeing the insanity by Trump, Musk & the broligarchy, I hope nobody will ever think that corruption is just a Global South issue

Corruption in the North is massive & devastating for all

its bright red heralds the spring.
In a realm of bright blossoms and rebirth,
the sun ravels its golden chains across the sea,
playing mischievous games with the waves.
