Are hair-pulling and skin-picking linked to deeper beliefs from childhood? 🤔

This study of 283 adults found early maladaptive schemas were elevated across trichotillomania, skin-picking and OCD.

Epoxy+chopsticks+wire = reasonable armature for branches, cover w royal icing.
Don't order modeling chocolate for summertime delivery, it'll melt en route.

People who hear, see, or sense things that others don't find many creative ways to cope with, manage, or live alongside their experiences.

What helps one person may not be helpful for someone else, of course, but this a great library of ideas and examples: understandingvoices.com/living-with-...

Beautiful piece. Cw child abuse, religious trauma
"I would blast Sinéad O’Connor’s music in my bedroom. Her voice was a shudder, her songs evocative enough to lend a cinematic vastness to my sadness, resonating long past the age of crossed wires and slammed doors."

Star Trek TNG
Twin Peaks (the end of S2, I mean)
Black Sails
The Good Place
Succession
Buffy (if you ignore the parts of their big plan that make no sense at all)
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

Any list of the Best Films of 2025 should go like this:

1. Sinners

2. The Rest

This is not to say there weren't a TONNE of amazing films in 2025, it was a really good year for film!

But Sinners is an all-time masterpiece and Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan deserve their flowers! #Sinners

Another for my collection of descriptions of haunted houses, from ‘Mr Jones’ by Edith Wharton:

“The house was too old, too mysterious, too much withdrawn into its own secret past, for her poor little present to fit into it without uneasiness.”

Been thinking about this lately too as, beginnings do their branching off - creative seasons and cycles, all the shapes they can take when we meet them with our whole selves. As whole as we can be in the moment, anyway, given *waves arms* everything. Forging compassion anyhow.
This was one of the best things I took from that con: to see your own patterns as information, rather than leaping to judgment and castigation; to look at the work you can do with compassion, and to be grateful for the lessons that work can teach you.
