jfc, I got an email from a fact checker about whether cloud seeding could have caused the Texas floods.

The answer: cloud seeding is (almost always) a scam. For many many many reasons, it is not responsible for the flooding.

Exclusive: A major scientific publisher, Taylor & Francis, said it has paused submissions to its journal Bioengineered so editors there can investigate some 1000 of its papers that bear signs they contain manipulated results or came from paper mills. scim.ag/4kjR4la
Journal plagued with problematic papers, likely from paper mills, pauses submissions
The halt will let Taylor & Francis focus on checking Bioengineered’s papers for fraudulent works and paid authorships

I can see it now…

An indoor air quality standard seems like a no brainer in class rooms / offices / public places? Nowadays we monitor/control everything it seems but air quality? Measuring is not that hard. It allows informed decisions.

Why is it that developing research questions is so hard for students?

What are we NOT teaching that makes it so difficult for them to craft a well-designed research question?

I see this with both qualitative and quantitative research questions.

Did another interview where I was asked how I study disasters and stay "optimistic".

This is very confusing for me because I am not optimistic. I am extremely pessimistic.

I think people mistake my making jokes for being optimistic. The memes are a coping mechanism, guys. It's all very bad.
