I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

Coordinated a beer drop by a white friend to deliver a 30-rack of Hamm’s to a Hispanic friend’s doorstep because his wife wouldn’t let him leave the house to go buy more beer for fear he’d be brutalized by lawless armed masked federal paramilitaries. This is Minnesota community. We take care of us.

The one totally meaningless thing that would completely rule would be if the pope excommunicated jd Vance. Low stakes, would change nothing, but would provoke a lot of really funny reactions from people I universally hate. It would be really great. He should do it.

“I’m embarrassed,” one former ICE agent with more than 25 years of experience told TIME. “The majority of my colleagues feel the same way. It’s an insult to us, because we did it the right way to see what they’re doing now.”

there's something that explains all of this in how "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is a sincere, tragic, beautiful attempt to grapple with American divine providence by placing it on the side of the downtrodden, and "Dixie", the song, is from minstrel shows, that is, cosy fiction

It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.

Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing

The ICE thug was so scared he didn’t even drop his phone to draw his weapon and shoot a woman in the face.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

Defaming a murdered woman and shrugging off her death with a lie is about as evil as it gets and no journalist who gets within shouting distance of this vicious troll should let him have a moment's peace about it.

these guys aren't pretending to offer Greenlanders or any of their neoimperialist victims freedom or equality or self-determination. they're just offering to consume them and despoil their land of natural resources. An earlier generation of Americans would have hung them at nuremberg for it

This is the way.
This comes up every now and then so let me take you inside the game
1. I always have a physical and audio book going.
2. I read the physical book when the TV in my house is not on something I care about
3. I listen to the audio book while i do chores/run errands.
Get 1-2 hours/100ish pages a day
I am both super excited about exploring these titles, and dumbfounded that there is time enough to thoughtfully read so many books, in one year, that you can cull a list of twenty great ones. I struggle to read 3 or 4 in a year! I need to reevaluate my life choices!

Jokes on them our roads already don’t get paved!
Their closing message to Indiana: change your maps to artificially benefit the President's political party or 'roads will not be paved' as punishment.

They are openly saying this.

Who would want to live in a country that works like that?
