Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

If you’re looking to get tickets to the PWHL game(s) in Edmonton, you can use STMPWHL to access the presale happening now. Might work for other cities as well. Can’t hurt to try.

Just had a friend send me a screenshot of a tweet from David Staples. One of the best things about Bluesky is going weeks, even months at a time forgetting that clown exists. And now my friend has ruined that.

Team Batty went to the Oilers game tonight. Edmonton scored the tying goal in the last minute of the third and the winner in the first minute of overtime. The team was just upping the entertainment value for the girls I guess. (And somehow the scoreboard had the wrong score at the end)

What a finish. Lots to dislike about that game, but damn, it sure was fun in the end.

Nurse is Quinn’s favourite player, so when I bring her to a game there are always two or three times when I want to yell about his most recent boneheaded play but have to just keep it inside. Like, for example, the second Columbus goal tonight.

This team is absolute dog shit away from home. Even scoring first, you’re just waiting for the inevitable collapse.

Quinn played a little volleyball at school this week and somehow that turned into us going out to watch the Golden Bears and Pandas play tonight. Wins for both, by the way.

Wasn’t thrilled about missing a Saturday night Oilers game… but I guess I’ll have to thank them for that in the morning.

Always happy to see Bo Levi Mitchell lose. Even if that means Danny Maciocia and the Alouettes win.

Weekend reading: Where America stands, one year after Trump’s election.

A fascistic movement controls the government; they are trying to build an authoritarian state; but they have not consolidated authoritarian rule.

A democracy no more, but not a stable autocratic regime yet.

Escalation, Authoritarian “Normalization,” or a Democratic Turnaround?

The lack of self-reflection in this op-ed by the board chair of the Better Edmonton Party says a lot about why the party lost the mayoral election. Even with a $2 million war chest and a big head start they couldn’t convince more than 30% of voters that Tim Cartmell should be Mayor of Edmonton.
Opinion: How the centre-right lost another Edmonton election

Sigurdson has offered no explanation for his vote. Apparently “this choice was not made lightly.” That’s all we get.

So this reads like: I didn’t think people would be that upset about us trampling on their rights, and it’s unfair that I’m being criticised for it.
