Every liberal politician needs to face this truth. You can decide to be more “populist” but there will be a cost.

I’m stuck between:

1. You can fight evil but you can’t fight stupid.

2. We need to make room for stupid in order to fight evil.
I get so jealous of dumb people sometimes.

Let’s say this is true, which I doubt. It’s also true that vaccines have saved scores of millions of babies. Why is the Times taking that for granted?
The NYT definitely made a choice not to add “without evidence” to this headline.

On the horrific news that Pete Hegseth ordered the killing of boat bombing survivors, remember: The Trump Murder Memo "authorizing" the strikes preemptively clears those carrying them out. That's unusual. And we still haven't heard from the commander who resigned:

5/A similar attack by a U boat in WWII resulted in conviction for war crimes. Even in wartime, an attack like this is a crime. If we are not at war—an issue the experts are now hotly debating—it’s quite simply murder. Continue reading here: joycevance.substack.com/p/the-moment...

4/Hegseth tweeted but didn’t deny that 2 defenseless people were killed. There’s no evidence of their guilt. Clinging to the wreckage of a boat in the ocean, they weren’t an immediate threat to the US. The lawful choice was rescue & prosecution. Instead, per Hegseth’s order, they were executed.

3/That’s what the special operations commander overseeing the attack did. After the initial hit, live drone feed showed two survivors clinging to the wreckage. The commander “ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions … The two men were blown apart in the water.”
