What is it with the desire to shout out how grateful you are to not have kids during this fascism? Yes, this is scary for those of who have kids but is it more so? Like, these kids out here will be making decisions that affect you in your old age one day. Still scary whether you have kids or not.

The rural school my kids go to is in a town without broadband. The school gets internet by renting out a tree in a neighbor's yard to out a Starlink receptor on. The town over has secured fund for a trail to go through the town. Will include broadband. The farmers are fighting it. 🙃

I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that the United States has lapsed into authoritarian governance and that we're fighting a low-grade civil conflict as the Republicans try and consolidate their rule. It's something we've not seen since the 1850s and not something our politics are designed for.

Blue states obviously cannot and shouldn't raise an army to violently secede from the United States. But the Trump's fed. government would collapse without an extremely high degree of cooperation from these states he treats as colonies. We need to think about pain points and ways to halt compliance.
at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us

I don't think they mean for it to be genuinely exculpatory. I think they're performing a loyalty test where they show how deep into the in-group they are by loudly proclaiming that Comrade Kim Jong Il was born from the heavens and that everyone on Earth celebrates the Dear Leader's birthday.
