My liberation is bound up in your liberation. A better world is possible because we dare to dream and we muster the energy to do the work, not just to win elections but to build the institutions that provide care, and fight beyond the ballot.

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

If there's anyone who has worked harder to flip the script on the NIMBY history of Marin than Jenny, I don't know them.

Listen to the reformers: state law gets the goods.

(And you still need people like Jenny holding cities' feet to the fire)
I've done a lot of housing advocacy in Marin. We have 9,000 units in the pipeline. We'd have nothing without the state-level reforms.

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

Seattle's Mamdani is winning by an absurdly small margin over our incumbent mayor, who once pulled a gun on a pregnant woman in a parking lot.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Absolutely.

The far right took over the GOP through the long process of taking over local and county organizations and the left can do the same. It’s not an instant fix but it actually works.

Keeping my eyes on what I can do beyond making calls to my reps, some of the electoral work to do for 2026 and beyond is clear:

– build up better candidates and hit the primaries
- protect voter access and rights
- expand ranked choice voting
- prioritize support for third parties, eg WFP and DSA

Though they are usually well intentioned, unfunded inclusionary zoning requirements make housing less affordable by increasing the cost of building new homes, which worsens the housing shortage and drives up rents.
In 2018, then-Mayor Ada Colau called Barcelona’s new 30% inclusionary housing requirement for projects over 600m^2 a “paradigm shift,” making housing “a right and not a commodity.” It was supposed to produce 330 affordable units a year. The reality: just 31 affordable apartments in all these years.
Cuando se ha aprobó esta medida dije repetidamente que iba a ser un fracaso y que no construirían nada de vivienda asequible. Se ha probado en mil sitios y no funciona.

Also notable: in California, despite top-two primaries in state-managed seats, party registration does matter in the Presidential primary, if your preferred party operates a closed primary (the Dems do). www.sos.ca.gov/elections/pr...

This is important. Situation is different here in California, but I'll remain a registered Dem.

However, I'm only putting money into @workingfamilies.org, @demsocialists.bsky.social, and the candidates that they back. If you aren't aware of the recent electoral successes of those 2, you should be!
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.
