Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.

This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Those of you who still insist on drawing a distinction between ICE and police should be aware that the police are not drawing that distinction.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

I'm deeply sorry to the people of Venezuela. There is no opposition party in the United States to counter the fascist regime's actions and the population is easily demagogued.

On the one hand, centralizing these fascists in one place makes actually defunding the police possible. On the other, if we just dismantle ICE and don't hire any of them back, we have a de-ba'athification problem. The ICE scars will be here for a while.
New numbers show ICE is devouring US law enforcement: 1 in 5 US marshals, 1 in 5 FBI agents, half of all DEA agents, and over two-thirds of all ATF agents are now assigned to ICE enforcement. These are agencies with critical jobs they're now NOT doing.

Not all troops engage in atrocities but this kill anything/everybody mindset is endemic to the American way of war -- and has been since before the dawn of the Republic. I chronicled it re: Vietnam War. Others have done so in terms of other conflicts and contexts

Lays out clearly the *depth* of the cost of living crisis in the US and the failure of our benefits regime to actually help so many of the people who need it because of the phaseouts at what are still poverty levels. Distressing. www.yesigiveafig.com/p/part-1-my-...

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

It's interesting and I hope instructive how the Trump admin is referring to the people it kills as "terrorists". Throughout the GWOT, the term didn't have any real meaning other than the post-hoc label for people we have killed. Hopefully this overreach clarifies the underlying meaninglessness.

Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:

“If this madness doesn’t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.”

Israel just killed him.

Israel's Act of Piracy on the High Seas (illegally storming the Madleen & kidnapping its crew) serves one purpose: To defend its right to continue unobserved and unimpeded the Genocide of Palestinians. An Act of Piracy is thus committed in the process of concluding a Genocide.

I read this while my infant son slept in my arms and could not help but weep: what a world we have created to rip parents and children apart just so that other parents and their children may continue to be killed in Palestine by our bombs and the ongoing blockade.
“Like other Palestinian fathers, I was separated from you by racist regimes and distant prisons. Babies are born every day without their fathers – not because their fathers chose to leave, but because they are taken by war, by bombs, by prison cells and by the cold machinery of occupation.”
