Heh, well, as evidenced by my last post, the entirety of the Highwayman by Noyes lives rent free in my head.

But also, my only tattoo is a line from Sarah Williams' The Old Astronomer. "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

The one year anniversary of Yoon's failed martial law takeover just passed and lots of untold stories came out proving that THE ONLY REASON KOREA IS STILL A FREE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DISOBEYED ILLEGAL ORDERS.

The coup was over in hours because people said no.

Sometimes I think about how the guy who assassinated former Japanese Prime Minister Abe is watching the government do exactly what he wanted it to do as a result of his actions, and I just feel the need to stare at the wall for a while.

Nobody asks questions when I tell them my day job. It's the most boring thing imaginable. Most people just blink and move on.

When I say I'm a writer, the worst question is "Have I read anything you've written?"

I dunno, dude, but probably not!
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Why is it that I can spend years working toward something I'm really excited for, and then once it starts to become real, all I want to do is run and hide?

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have made a HUGE breakthrough towards a UNIVERSAL antiviral. By targeting sugar molecules found on the surface of many viruses that SHARE structural similarities, they identified FOUR compounds that successfully BLOCKED infections from SEVEN different viruses.

Lizard Leigh is both a very talented cosplayer and a Youtuber I really enjoy, and their latest video is a clear, detailed look at the death of JoAnn Fabrics and the workings of private equity. Highly recommended.

I got my final dose of the HPV vaccine in October, and it's honestly been pretty surprising how many of the people in my life had no idea what it was or how helpful it is. Get your HPV vaccine, folks, and eliminate a whole swathe of possible cancers from your future!
This is wonderful news, and also means it’s time for me to beat the drum I always do when HPV vaccines make the news:

They are not only for women! HPV also causes penile, anal, and head and neck cancers. The latter are particularly deadly. Please vaccinate ALL your children.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”

Just so it's clear. It's not allowing AI because it's trying to create a clean dataset for training AI. It's not because any of the involved parties actually care about human created art.

Demons can lie to you. You have to rebuke them categorically, rather than fold when they say the right words.
Vine is being rebooted under the name diVine, with funding from Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey.

The app plans to feature more than 10,000 previously archived Vines and does not allow AI-generated content.

"Potentially" divisive? Really?
Behind this important reversal is a member of the Coast Guard who saw what was happening and had the courage to leak it to the press. That person deserves serious praise.
