@zanzjan.bsky.social okay I am LOVING the Finder series right now, and I just read a detail and I gotta ask: you wouldn't happen to ever have visited the zoo in Wellington, NZ, would you? This detail is so specific and so delightful I'm thinking there's no way it's a coincidence...

These days, the Spree.
My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

I do not know this person, but his argument makes a lot of sense to me and squares with what we have all seen happen before.

He isn't saying don't prosecute. He's saying it's difficult and for that reason must be done methodically, even if that takes more time.
Here’s a comment for the people who are upset that MN hasn’t charged Jonathan Ross already:

If you just Leeeroy Jenkins this shit you will lose and you will empower fascism and murder.

It is indescribably hard to prosecute cops for murder. It is even hard when the murder is ON VIDEO.

It may seem doomer-y, and it feels foreboding that it chose today to stick in my head, but this is just a jam.

And maybe, rather than "these are the end times," I can reframe it: Johnny Cash here believes that the forces of good, as he sees them, will triumph.

I'm not joking: if he won a nomination, I'd support Ken Jennings for public office. Certainly an upgrade from certain other non-professional politicians/former TV competition hosts I can think of.
It's totally understandable if you're dooming about any facet of the American experiment right now. So your feelings are "valid" in the sense that they represent real anxiety, and I get that. But to vent that anxiety in other people's spaces is wrong for three reasons.

I have seen multiple MN Democratic politicians dropping F-bombs and S-words in public statements addressing the federal government.

Not to traffic in stereotypes, but I remind you, these folks are (1) media-trained and (2) Minnesotans.

This situation is DIRE.

My mom's side is from Minneapolis. My great*(n) grandfather was the oldest Jew alive in the city at one point. Like all of us, I descend from immigrants, in both my adoptive and birth families. And some of my best friends and most cherished relatives are happy, normal queer folks, many of whom...

Used to be, if I got 5:59 or less on Monday, I was stoked. These days, if I get under 5 minutes I'm happy, and very happy if I finish in less than four. So today was a pretty good day.

So I left a voicemail on my Congress member's field office phone. The voicemail at the Washington DC number was full. I choose to believe that that means I'm far from the only one who's chosen to let the representative know how I feel (not that they just never clear out their voicemail). Join me.
