It’s not self promo for me, so I’ll say I’d like to crack a stone of Vanrian Black mead while sitting around a campfire and looking at the stars.
To avoid self promo, I’ll just go with my usual favorite. Lavender Earl Grey tea with a bit of oat milk and sugar. Best drunk on a cool morning while writing a book. ☕️

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I'm serious, we NEED to organize massive protests tomorrow at Schumer's offices, this man cannot be trusted to hold office, period.

Not only is he not the right person for the moment, he is the WORST person for the moment. Riley, the old blind dog on my block, would have better political instincts.
Senate Democrats are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the emerging deal. “Stay tuned,” Schumer tells us with a grin.

Trump filed lawsuits over jokes, tweets, and news articles, but not once over any of the countless allegations of child rape. I feel like more people should mention that.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry began on this day in 1859.

this is a prime opportunity for democrats to explicitly tell their voters "they say you're a terrorist, but youre just a patriotic american who is trying to get by in this world."

Hi, I’d like to order a custom hoodie in a camo pattern of Christmas colors and then I’d like a big Punisher skull with Trump hair sticking out from under a Santa hat. And this is VERY IMPORTANT, on the arm I want a patch that says K$H and “FIGHT WITH KASH” underneath. My name is Kash. Yes I’ll hold

We (Democrats, reporters, society in general) should and should be able to make this into a big story.
I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?

Plus, conservative ideas are wrong and bad. I’m struggling to think of a single topic since MAGA happened where the right-wing side isn’t cartoonishly evil.
“No self-respecting university could ever accept something like this,” said Lee Bollinger, a First Amendment scholar and former Columbia University president. “Trying to protect conservative ideas against being ‘belittled’ — that’s about as violative of the First Amendment interests as you can get.”
Colleges weigh whether to sign onto Trump plan or forgo federal benefits
A new proposal from the Trump administration would give colleges funding advantages if they adopt conservative priorities.

So, so many of our problems are downstream of this fact: conservatives are wrong about everything. They are wrong about what the problems are and all of their solutions are wrong. So every time they get a chance to implement them, things go horribly. But in order to avoid acknowledging this -
You'll be shocked to learn New College of Florida is on the brink of implosion just a couple of years after DeSantis engineered an extreme right-wing takeover

Fun fact: NCF's new overlords spend $134K per student (!!...the average at other FL publics is $10K) www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...
Spending Soars, Rankings Fall at New College of Florida
Student outcomes and rankings are slipping at the liberal arts college while spending is up. Critics believe the college is at risk of implosion, and some are calling for privatization.

I know we're desensitized, but it's important to note, again, that today's events would have led to the immediate impeachment & removal of any president from at least Truman to at least Obama. We're hundreds of miles on the interstate past Richard Nixon's high school prank-level crimes compared to 👇
Trump wraps up a speech to military leaders that represented a major escalation of his effort to weaponize the armed forces into a tool he can use to violently quash domestic dissent. Hard to imagine how anyone with a shred of dignity can keep serving after this, which of course is the point.

Dems should spell out consequences for carrying out Trump's corrupt or illegal orders. Threaten to scour every FCC document to scrutinize Brendan Carr's corrupt deliberations over licenses/mergers. Say right on ABC that the network capitulated to autocratic pressure.
