The entire thing is predicated on literally every other country in the world saying "oh please oh please I'm so sorry I was ever mean to you please forgive me President Business I'll do whatever you want!" Vs "hahaha fuck you."

"sure, yes, sounds like winter, I like it"

the unfortunate thing about professional athletes is that they have spent their lives trying to wring every tiny little edge out of their bodies and this makes them extremely susceptible to medical quackery, which is currently having a renaissance

Finally, an issue we can triangulate against trump to win back men!
Trump: "When you look at football in the US, soccer -- we seem to never call it that, because we have a little bit of a conflict with another thing that's called football. But when you think about it, shouldn't it really be called football? We have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff."

any one of these would've been like a full blown scandal in any other unit (John Chapman alone should've been enough to get them abolished) but it's just Tuesday in NSW

Also this list is missing Logan Melgar, as well as the SEAL who stabbed some random guy in the face on the Santa Monica Pier
John Chapman, operation red wings, task force bruiser, the money in the maersk Alabama lifeboat, Linda Norgrove, Eddie Gallagher, why do we need these guys again?

Prison rape is wrong.

Jokes about prison rape are wrong.

Eliminating protections against prison rape is wrong.

If another country sentenced a criminal to be raped, we'd consider it a crime against humanity.

BUT

A large segment of Americans regard prison rape as a de facto part of the sentence.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

It’s basically a “we want to use the military domestically” document and they view any other natsec concerns as just a hindrance to that
Bigger picture, goes even stronger than expected identifying Western Hemisphere / Latin America as our #1 priority -- yes, above East Asia -- even implying significant reposturing of US military forces. Is not outright insulting to Asian allies like it is to the Europeans.

It’s not “nationalism” in any American sense, loyal to the Constitution or values it embodies. It’s a white internationale intent on drawing a cordon blanc, you might say — and coldly willing to place democratic multiracial societies with long ties of loyalty to the U.S. outside of it.
I mean this is straight up white supremacy:

Exactly. It's disingenuous to call it a purity test to say "You shouldn't be beholden to right-wing billionaires pushing right-wing policies and right-wing candidates."

When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.
