For anyone curious about me, this is my current big plant project.

It's an 18x18x24 ExoTerra tropical terrarium (vivarium) for my ferns and micro-orchids, started in November 2022.
Visited my brother today and spent an hour in a rocking chair crocheting. I am in my grandma era.

Might be my best pic yet of a bloom from my Trisetella strumosa mini orchid. You can see the tongue in this one if you look close.

I can’t think of many rural terms I like more than “witches’ knickers” - to describe old black bin bags caught in fences, hedgerows and trees.

How much would it cost to have someone do my laundry for me. 'cause this shit sucks.

A few shots from yesterday's too-late-in-the-afternoon forest adventure.

Curse you daylight savings time!

#WinterSolstice can't get here soon enough!

Thankfully I brought some new lights to continue experimenting with DSLR manual focus adjustments & using focus stacking software.

I really want to like eating onions because they're in everything, but I just dont like anything about them. I dont like the texture, I dont like the flavor, I dont like how cooked onions look. 💀

'In the winter garden' - my favourite geometric garden aerial that I've ever done! I don't remember if I shared it here or not yet - it has camellia bushes in the centre and beds of winter heather and hellebore :) the geometric landscapes are always more challenging and I love that! #embroidery

There should be an app like Tinder but instead of selfies, people post photos of cool rocks they found, and you swipe left or right based solely on those.

Our mycologists were taken by surprise this week when a visiting researcher found a curious pink truffle-like fungus under eucalyptus trees in the gardens.

The problem with seeding my large tropical terrarium with as many spore kits as possible, is that that I have no idea what anything is when it comes up.

Though it does look cool af and it's fun to see what ends up growing where.

Any fern people know what type of little fern(?) this is that keeps sprouting up in my tropical terrarium? It's started showing up as volunteers.

Okay, okay. THAT is a flower spike on my Pleurothallis grobyi orchid. First time it's gonna flower for me in the several years I've had it.

I must have finally gotten the light, air flow, and fertilizing just right for it. Hnn.

Anyway. I'm VERY excited.

Idk why I never thought that actually you're allowed to wear a winter scarf indoors. It just feels like something you take off once you get inside. But it's keeping me so warm right now. 💀

Another warp off the loom – this pattern is "twill complication" from Davison's "green book." I really love point twills! This is my antique Scandinavian loom from Minnesota. I call this loom "Shorty," because it is unusually small for its age and type.

Okay, slight change of plans. We're attempting to darn one of my favorite socks that's getting threadbare.

I also carved the darning egg with a handle and it's working so well.
December 3, 2025 at 5:32 AM
Okay. Here's the plan.

Gonna take a nap until 7pm. Then I'm gonna get up and refill two (2) jugs with reverse-osmosis water to refill the tank on the misting system for my large terrarium before it runs out again. After that we shall crochet for an hour-ish and then bed! Before 3am! 🫡

I just remembered you can make 'yarn' out of scraps of old clothing and bedsheets.

Imma make a rag rug.

Not sure if I want to do a braided one or a crocheted one. Hmm.

Doing another lap blanket with a moss stitch this time. Which looks really nice, but is a yarn eater.

I'm loving this color though. It's Peaches & Crème in Oasis. But I need like, six more balls of it to get the blanket size I want. Lmao.

based on how often the naughty teens of major cities throw the rentable scooters directly into the river i've formed a theory that the many iron age swords and cauldrons found in lakes around europe that we've previously assumed were ceremonial and sacrificial in nature were in fact thrown by teens
