I remember Dawning Realization Month for the NFT people too. Think this is going to take much longer because of how wrapped up the whole economy is in this, but it really feels like it's happening.
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

Honestly it's funny that he is *quite literally* saying "deregulate and reduce the burden of taxation on business to create jobs" and nobody on the left will criticise him. Good.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

I saw Wicked 2 and there's a bunch to say about it and analyze and point out its flaws but I'll just say it was alright, will probably make gangbusters money, I liked Ariana's performance more in this one, and I am affirmed in my dislike for 2-part movies that are conceived as a single story.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

a few candidates have talked about this but any Dem planning to run in 2028 should make it explicit: the next DOJ will, in fact, go after you if you’re funding this awful ballroom, or any other pay to play deals you make with this administration
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

it's so wild that Indiana Republicans are kinda the first among their own to be calling bullshit. Indiana Republicans believe that life begins in the balls, they're way out there. Generally speaking you can't reason with them. But Indiana is also sorta southern, doesn't wanna be told to get in line
Indiana Senate Republican Greg Walker “said he would have reported the alleged violation to federal authorities “if I thought that there was anyone of integrity in Washington that would follow through on my accusation ..”

Man, but "Do you love me? Then love me the way I want you to" feels like a red flag thing to say without the context of "I'm dying and I would like some personal agency on how I go."

Finishing that Last of Us episode, I'm very slow what with having lots to do.

I'm very very late to The Last Of Us and tend to only watch when dog sitting at a friend's who has HBO, but the Bill and Frank dialogue where Bill screams, "The government ARE all Nazis!" and Frank responds with, "Well, yeah, now, but not then!" feels very modern left conversations with normie Dems.

A note on SaneWashing: I read part of this post to family (all liberal Democrats who consume a lot of news, but not social media), and it blew their mind. They all thought it was parody: if Corporate Media did not SaneWash, it would shock US, his approval would plummet from low (30s) to lower(20s).

But also, just another thing, even if the movie didn't focus on the death of his son, does this op-ed writer not think there's ever been really good comic writers, much less poets and dramatic writers, with depression?

ffs
ok, I promised myself I wouldn’t gripe with this thing one sentence at a time but it seems a lil dishonest to gripe that Hamnet portrays William Shakespeare as a Gloomy Gus and not mention that the movie centers on the death of his 11-year-old son.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
