Y'all. I created this "Library Wrapped" template to help #librarians share their mid-year data BEFORE the end of the year when many budget/staffing decisions are already made. Access the template here: www.librarygirl.net/post/your-li...

I hope y'all find this resource useful!

My quick bulletin board for December since we only have a couple of weeks. Thanks @mandybellm.bsky.social for the idea.

My students have begun a tradition of a 67 parade by chanting 6 6 7 at the end of every school day as they walk out to buses.

Three week countdown to Winter break begins. I am teaching #HourOfCode #HourOfAI in December. What are other #SchoolLibrarians #Skybrarians #TLSky teaching?

Ooh that would be a great idea!
Dear Olympics YouTube channel,
Are you going to make my school librarian dreams come true and post one of these videos for each of the winter events? We have a unit combining research, sports, and infographics scheduled for Jan. and these will make a great addition!

Viola Fletcher, the oldest living survivor of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre, has died. She was 111.

"I have lived through the massacre every day. Our country may forget this history, but I cannot," she told Congress in 2021.

Geoff Bennett has more.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Any other book lovers obsessed with the sprayed edge trend? I could buy books just based on the edges. But then do you shelved them spine out or edge out? 💙📚 #BookLover

Saw a TikTok made by an elementary school librarian who said one of the teachers asked him not to allow her students to check out graphic novels. He turned around and made a graphic novel display 😂🖤.

In teaching #DigitalCitizenship this #SchoolLibrarian #Skybrarian has heard some crazy and scary stories from kids about Roblox. A majority of my students are on there regularly and I don’t think many parents are aware of what happens on there.

Yesterday I went to the BER What’s New in Children’sLiterature by Deborah Salyer with a group of school librarians from my district . It was amazing- def recommend if you haven’t gone. #KidLit #PictureBooks #MGBooks are so amazing and to get to see and read and explore them is 10 out of 10

Took today off for a doctor appointment I made last June. Doctor’s office is conveniently by a Barnes & Noble so this school librarian went over to just get the new Wings of Fire GN but came away with WAY too many books. The best part is imaging whose hands I will place each book.

I just finished the #ADBook 💙📚 The Black Wolf by Louise Penny-another great Inspector Gamache Mystery. In the beginning the author says she wrote the book in summer of 2024 and submitted it in Sept 2024 and didn’t know what would happen early 2025.

What a day- we have lice and stomach flu going around so I had 2 kids tell me they had lice last week while itching their heads, one puker and a lock down(not a drill)with a kindy class. School Librarians will understand.

Watched the new Frankenstein on Netflix. I would def recommend. The use of colors stands out- red, gold, green,blue- and I’m sure they have meaning. I don’t know what 🤷‍♀️ but I can imagine college film students of the future writing papers about the colors and what they represent.

Any other #SchoolLibrarians have staff meetings in the library and clean like they are hosting holiday dinner? Just me?
I left Monday thinking I will clean up the mess tomorrow morning forgetting Vet Day off.
Now I’m headed in early to clean before the staff sees it.

Hubby has been having trouble with his rear camera. Yesterday got a scare when he put it in reverse and a HUGE spider appeared on the screen. Spider has built a nice little web back there.
