Ironically, the guy who probably had the teams' back the most early on (Phelps) is probably the guy that gets shitcanned for this going sideways. Jim France ain't gonna fire himself, and OD has survived being a walking muppet for too long for this to take him down, though I'd like to be wrong.

I could replace the blower motor in my "so expensive to repair" VW in 15 minutes for less than $60. I just spent $85 and nearly 3 hours doing it in this fucking KIA.

Sad news for those in the auto journo space: Eric Boman passed away this past weekend. Details unknown, but he spent time writing for MotorBiscuit, HotCars, and SlashGear. Had a chance to work with him at MB and Cox Auto, he was a great, funny guy and he will certainly be missed.

I can say that Gen AI did one good thing for me. It pissed me off so much I asked for (and got!) a promotion so I didn't have to deal with it anymore.

I’d guess we don’t get a decision until the new format is decided.

I completely agree with this premise. This has always been my biggest issue of many with the format: It does not do a good job of telling a satisfying story. It culminates with a champion by chance. It's the same problem GWCs, two-tire stops with 5 to go, and double-file restarts create: Nonsense.
A lot of folks are feeling a little jaded about the NASCAR finale, but I don't think it's because of the Playoffs.
It's because the narrative stinks.

This is the same issue that has devalued a Daytona 500 win. Sports build toward a satisfying conclusion, they create stories by format. In so many different ways, NASCAR has gotten in the way of its own ability to tell those stories.
